Policies

Registration Fees:

Any resident of the Borough of Berwick may obtain a library registration without charge upon presentation of valid identification. A fee of $12 per year is charged to individuals residing in municipalities that do not contribute to the library. Aside from Berwick Borough, currently contributing municipalities include:

• Briar Creek Borough
• Briar Creek Township
• Nescopeck Borough
• Nescopeck Township
• Salem Township

Corporate Memberships:

Life-time memberships and registration are available for a $50 fee. This fee also allows the individual to attend and vote in annual reorganization meetings.

Borrowing Policies:

Borrowing Periods:
All books, magazines, books-on-tape, & Compact Discs, may be borrowed for 2 weeks. Videotapes & DVDs may be borrowed for 2 days. Current magazines, reference books, and CD-ROMs must be used in the library

Limits & Renewals:
There is a maximum limit of items that may be borrowed.  The following limits apply to specific library collections:

Books, Magazines and other print items: 15
Videotapes: 3
DVDs:3
Books on Tape: 8
Books on CD:3

Print materials may be renewed twice. All other materials may not be renewed and items reserved by another patron are not renewable.

Overdue Materials:
Most materials not returned on time will be assessed a fine of $ .20 per day. Videotapes, CDs, and DVDs are fined at a rate of $1.00 per day. Fines must be paid before additional items may be borrowed.

Reserves:
Any title may be placed on a reserve list.

Book Drops:
Two outdoor book returns are available for use when the library is closed. Videotapes, CDs, and books-on-tape must be returned inside.
